A Sorrowful Poem

A candlestick burning with wild flame

It’s how I see her now

The flame was invigorating in the beginning

A rebirth of the soul, like a phoenix rising from the ashes

Now that same flame has burnt so hot that my soul is cracked

There is no flicker of life in my eyes

And I wonder when, if ever, the flame will help heal my soul

Author’s Notes:  This is a remembrance poem.
