Reading another blog, from 2014, I found this J.R.R Tolkien gem. The quote is from the appendices that J.R.R. wrote. Each of these appendices give little insights as to what the master was thinking when he crafted Middle-Earth.
This note about how Orcs and Trolls spoke, how they were some foul, that he cleaned the language up for the books. I think if J.R.R. could come forward to today and see how poorly people express themselves he might believe the Orcs and Troll truly live among us. This is especially true if you listen to this year’s presidential campaigns.
“But Orcs and Trolls spoke as they would, without love of words or things; and their language was actually more degraded and filthy than I have shown it. I do not suppose that any will wish for a closer rendering, though models are easy to find. Much the same sort of talk can still be heard among the orc-minded; dreary and repetitive with hatred and contempt, too long removed from good to retain even verbal vigor, save in the ears of those to whom only the squalid sounds strong.”
